In the heart of Kabwata hub site, two passionate basketball players, Mateyo and Mailess Ngulube, have taken matters into their own hands. As they eagerly await the completion of renovation work at Kabwata Play Park, these determined siblings, joined by their friends, have fashioned a remarkable makeshift hoop from everyday household items. They have harnessed the power of a 1-litre Aqua Savanna water bottle, a few nails, sturdy planks, potato sacks, and even repurposed an old LCD TV sheet into a makeshift backboard. Despite the park's temporary closure, the spirit of basketball burns brightly within them. For Mateyo, who nurtures dreams of one day gracing the courts of the NBA, this is more than just a game. It's a lifeline, a way to steer clear of the temptations of smoking and other vices, providing a path towards a brighter future.
