The High Commissioner of Zambia to the Republic of South Africa, Her Excellency Mazuba Monze, has hailed the Zambian hockey national teams currently participating in the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifiers games in Pretoria, South Africa. She emphasized that the Zambian High Commission in South Africa is open to all Zambian visitors and commended the hockey teams for their strong representation of the country in Pretoria. Her Excellency Monze extended her congratulations to the women's hockey team for securing their first victory in the games by defeating Namibia 3-2 on Monday. She expressed her hopes for the team's continued success throughout the competition. Additionally, Ms. Monze conveyed the nation's enthusiasm for the team's upcoming games. Ms. Monze also offered words of encouragement to the men's team, which faced elimination from the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifiers after two consecutive losses. She encouraged the team to utilize the experience gained in these games to improve their performance in future competitions. Both the women's and men's hockey teams had the honor of visiting the High Commissioner at the Zambia High Commission in Pretoria, South Africa on October 31, 2023. Delegation leader Patson Kawewe expressed his confidence in the women's team's performance and pledged their commitment to facing Ghana. Elvis Bwalya, the Acting General of the Zambia Hockey Association, praised the High Commissioner for her consistent support of the association whenever Zambian athletes visit South Africa. During the courtesy call, two hockey players, Shadrick Katele and Martha Kalomo, appealed to the High Commissioner to attend their games at Tuks Stadium and boost their morale.
