Following the successful reconvening of the Annual General Meeting today at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre, the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) praised its members for their active participation throughout the congress. According to FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga, the meeting covered a variety of topics, including the highly contentious problems surrounding two clubs' proposed constitutional modifications. "Congratulations to the membership and secretariat team on the well-organized AGM today. We are pleased that members who submitted recommendations were given the opportunity to present them to the council, and that a decision was made to table the proposals at the Emergency General Meeting," says Kamanga. "The proposal by FC MUZA to have the Zambian Premier League chairperson to be elected by the clubs body has been forwarded to ZPL on the recommendation by the council and will then be forwarded to the EGM." "The Elite Ladies Football Club proposal with multiple proposals will be also a subject at the EGM." According to the FAZ general secretary, the appeal for general amnesty was left to individuals to contact the appropriate judicial bodies. "Considering that the call for amnesty is not provided for in the constitution, we met with the aggrieved parties with the minister (Hon Elvis Nkandu) and agreed that they are free to seek guidance from FAZ as their cases are different," according to him. The FAZ AGM discussed the Referees Association of Zambia proposal, and the meeting decided to look into it more in light of the FIFA-approved Referees Desk. According to Kamanga, the football industry will be able to continue, particularly now that the 2024 budget has been approved. The football landscape is about to change. Watch the space!
